Connor 2 Months Old - March 10, 2013

It blows my mind how fast time has flown by! Connor is growing and changing so much! I have heard to treasure this time I have with him while he is so tinybecause he would grow so fast, but I had no idea it would be this fast! I take pictures of him just about every day so that I won't miss any of the small changes. He is beginning to make eye contact with the camera so pictures are turning out so cute! Especially when he smiles!

The past few weeks have been kind of rough around here. We found out that Connor has silent reflux and a sensitivity to cows milk and/or lactose. Around 5-6 weeks old, he started getting really fussy to the point that we could not soothe him. He would cry a high pitched cry and arch his back continuously.  Then started going a day or 2 without having a bowel movement so his little tummy was always hurting. We tried gas drops which may have helped for that second but was not the cure. It was unbearable and so sad to see him in so much pain. I finally called the doctor and got him in the following the day to see if he had any recommendations. He pretty much told me that his situation was like a puzzle and we had to figure out what the cause was for all of his gas, constipation, and reflux. He instructed me to give him infant glycerin suppositories, prescribed him Zantac to take 3x a day, and changed him formula to a hypoallergenic formula Emfamil Nutragimen in case he was allergic to cows milk. He also instructed me to cut out all dairy from my diet in case he is allergic. The suppository worked instantly and it was amazing how happy he was after using the bathroom! He has not been constipated since we gave him the suppository 2 weeks ago. The Zantac seems to be working okay, but he is still fighting the reflux especially at night.  I am primarily breastfeeding but giving him 2 oz of Nutramigen formula after breastfeeding to make sure he is full. After all of this, he is feeling much better and now back to being a happy baby!! At his 6 week doctor appointment, he weighed 9 pounds 10 ounces! The doctor said he was right on target so that was good since he was not having any trouble gaining weight!

We had his 2 months check up and shots this week. He did really good! Only cried for a few minutes then gave him his paci and he was just fine. He did not run fever nor was fussy either. He weighted 11 pounds! And 22.5 inches long with head circumference of 16 inches! Such a big boy :)

At 2 Months, Connor is:
  • Sleeping 5-6 hours. Usually wakes up between 3-5 am.
  • Still sleeping in our room in the Rock and Play. Haven't discussed when we will put him in his crib yet. The Rock and Play seems to work really well with his reflux because it puts him at an incline.
  • Likes to be swaddled at night
  • Eating every 3 hours during the day. Nursing 30-45 min. Taking 2-4 ounces depending on if he nurses first or not.
  • Wearing 0-3 month clothes
  • Wearing size 1 diapers still
  • Eyes are still greyish-blue, but also have a greenish tint, too
  • Still likes his paci. Can usually get him to sleep with it as it soothes him.
  • Loves movement! Loves to be bounced and rocked the most.
  • Making all kinds of sounds - oohing and ahhing
  • Intentional smiles all the time! And laughing! So sweet!!
  • Making eye contact!
  • Tracking toys! And me! Loves following me around the room :)
  • Holding his head up so good for short periods of time
  • Tolerating tummy time for a few min at a time. Still not a big fan of it.
